Stepping Stone Educa Centre is one of the first private schools to be established in Rivers state. The school started in 1977 as Maytime Nursery at 42 Force Avenue and later “Metamorphosised” into Stepping Stone Nursery and Primary School when it moved to 28 Okoroji Street, D/Line Port Harcourt.
Later, in 1993, when the school moved to its permanent site on Okomoko Street, still in D/Line, it became known as Stepping Stone Educational Centre.
